THE STORY
The clients wanted the apartment to feel like a downtown loft and have plenty of storage as they were downsizing from a large suburban house. They also wanted to use the furniture from their previous home. We resized the living room carpet and the Christian Liagre sofa and chairs were reupholstered in a neutral palette. To complement the clients’ outsider art collection, we incorporated African inspired fabrics, two wood finishes, a rich walnut and a light Tabu veneer, and blackened steel and charcoal quartz accents. A light large format terrazzo tile was used throughout the apartment except in the master bedroom and den where the floors were carpeted.
The renovation took six months to complete. The apartment is a “Jewel Box,” warm, contemporary and perfect for entertaining, which is exactly what the clients wanted.
